During the time when Jesus was youth,He experienced many trials and temptations.
Trials from the teachers and the people:
The religious teachers or Rabbis required the young and old to obey their teachings and rules which God did not commanded. But Jesus studied only the Scriptures and obeyed God’s commandment. He did not try to obey the Rabbis taught but still Jesus did not speak or show disrespect about the teachers. The Rabbis was angry to Jesus because what they taught reflected the Scriptures. They knew that their laws were contrary to the Bible and they urged Jesus to obey their rules. But they could not change Jesus. They could not urged Him to obey what they taught, instead Jesus ask them what the Bible taught.
Trials inside the family:
Jesus had to face many trials and temptations within His family. His brothers urged Jesus that He should obey the “Word of God” as taught of teachers. Mary and Joseph scolded Jesus for not obeying the Rabbis for they were good men.
Trials in doing good:
Jesus was so kind and gentle. He showed a loving interest in everybody. He tried to help the poor and suffering person. When Jesus brothers spoke harshly to anyone, He would go to the person and speak words of kindness and encouragement. He gave food and water to the hungry and thirsty. Jesus kept right on doing as God wanted Him to.
Trials for doing right:
Many people were angry of Jesus because of His godly principles. People often called Him a coward and they sneer Him because He refused to join in some forbidden act and Jesus was very particular about little things. People abused Him,but He did not fight for His rights. Jesus was not discouraged and complaining. He showed willing and patiently His work.
Satan was always trying to overcome Jesus but satan failed. To every temptation,Jesus had only one answer: “it is written”. Satan tried so hard to lead Jesus into sin and the world would be lost. But heavenly angels always guarded Jesus against the power of darkness.
If Jesus had done one wrong act or spoken one impatient word, He could not have been our Savior.
